After each mass shooting, First Lucy updates “Sitting Ducks” on Instagram, their
response to gun violence.
BLOWN AWAY ROOF
Drought, wildfires, floods, and heatwaves will continue to increase due to human-caused climate change.
Symbolic of the loss these disasters bring, Blown Away Roof is an ongoing series of small sculptures placed in public settings. Waves of water or flames carry away bits of chimneys, reminding us of the fragility of our
homes and our world.
SITTING DUCKS
Every day, on average 327 people are shot in the United States. In this Instagram project, First Lucy places a
large inflatable “dead” sitting duck at the scene of the latest mass shooting. No community is immune to
gun violence. We are all at risk. #first.lucy
HOURGLASS
In the Hourglass series, the built world and earth’s inhabitants transition into catastrophe as a result of
climate change. Each hourglass quotes the Declaration of Independence, “we hold these truths to be self evident,” asking us to rethink what we take for granted and question the political legacy that threatens our existence.
THE HOUSE IS BURNING
As we were reminded to stay 6 feet apart to protect each other, this First Lucy installation reminds us that we
must act together to stop us from destroying our world. During covid 2020-2021, while based in NY, First Lucy placed 6 ft apart warnings to commuters as they stepped into the subway and bus. How much more
catastrophe do we need to witness before we correct the world?
